TARLAC CITY–Once again, candidates all over the province signified their willingness to ensure honest and peaceful elections come May 2016 as they put their signatures above their names assuring the public that they will obey the electoral process during the signing of the peace covenant held at San Sebastian Cathedral on Friday.
The peace pact was spearheaded by the Commissions on Elections, Tarlac Police Provincial Offi ce, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Northern Luzon Command and other religious organizations.
Tarlac police provincial director Senior Supt. Alex B. Sintin welcomed all the candidates and the stakeholders of the activities emphasizing that through the years the Tarlac police has managed to post zero crime rate at the very day of elections and minimized violence during the campaign period.
Bishop Florentino Cinense reminded the candidates to avoid mudslinging so that after elections they can look each other straight in the eye, while Atty. Ferdinand Cot-Om, Comelec provincial offi cer, said that all candidates aspiring for any post in the government should abide by the electoral law obeying posters’ sizes, placing them in a proper designated places and submit all necessary requirements on time particularly the Statement of Contributions and Expenses.
After the signing, white and violet balloons were released symbolizing the success of the event.
