CAMILING, Tarlac (PIA) — Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) celebrated its 7th University Charter anniversary.
Carrying the theme “Charting the Path of a Future-Proof TAU”, the celebration kicked-off with a thanksgiving mass, launching of TAU Fresh Market, Peace Walk, Dedication of the Peace Monument and Oathtaking of Individuals of Peace.
In his university address, President Max Guillermo emphasized that the theme is an affirmation of their mission and strong commitment to make TAU relevant and significant for the future generation.
He also highlighted the accomplishments of the university from 2022 up to the first quarter of the year such as the inclusion of TAU to several international university rankings, and the recognitions from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and their international partners.
“This validates TAU’s incessant advancement in the delivery of high-quality education and impactful service to its stakeholders in the country and overseas,” he said.
As a testament of TAU’s strong linkage to global academic institutions, Guillermo disclosed that their mobility program sent a total of 123 students who attended in-person and online modes of internships, training and courses abroad.
Guillermo likewise said that the College of Education retained its Level IV Re-Accredited Status for the Bachelor of Elementary Education Program.
In terms of agricultural initiatives, the university president underscored TAU’s collaboration with Israel to modernize the agricultural system through an automated facility.
“Integration of digital technologies is Israel’s depiction of smart farming. They believe that the smart and precision method in agriculture is imperative in ensuring bountiful harvest and high-quality standard products. This is what we are trying to adopt in TAU so that we could contribute to the advancement of the agriculture sector,” he explained.
In conclusion, Guillermo recognized the collective efforts of TAU’s professors, partners and students for the overall achievements of the university.
“These milestones would never be possible without our determination, diligence, and more importantly, our harmonious working relationship. I am hopeful that in the next coming years, we could achieve more echoing accomplishments for our dear TAU,” he stated.
For his part, CHED Commissioner Ronald Adamat lauded the continuous efforts of TAU to secure a top spot in both national and international university rankings.
As a future-proof university, he urged TAU to maximize new technologies in teaching and learning schemes; and to reach more people.
“As we celebrate the 7th University Charter Day, in spite of all its laurels, TAU shall always remain the university where men and women are honed professionally and trained to be creative, resilient, and agile,” Adamat noted.
From the former Tarlac College of Agriculture, the academic institution was converted into TAU by virtue of Republic Act No. 10800. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
