SAMAL, Bataan – One of two still unidentified men riding a motorcycle gunned down a suspected fruit game operator who was driving his motorcycle, his wife on board, along the national road in barangay Sta. Lucia, here Saturday before noon.

PO1 Rodrigo Imperial, Samal police investigator, said victim Isagani Rabago, 53, of  barangay East Calaguiman, Samal town, sustained two gunshot wounds; one on the left side of the head and another at the nape.

Police recovered two empty shells from caliber .45 revolver. The investigator quoted witnesses as saying the shooting was so fast with suspects neither in bonnet nor crash helmet.

“Dalawang lalaking naka-motor siningitan kami, papunta silang Balanga,” said victim’s grieving wife Rowena while being comforted by relatives.

The investigator said the two were bound for the public market in Orani, next town to Samal, when the shooting incident happened at about 10:40 in the morning. Two men riding in tandem were from the opposite direction.

Witnesses said they first thought that the sounds of gunshots were from firecrackers from a Santacruzan nearby.

“Nanghihingi kayo pero kapag hindi kayo nabigan, babantaan niyo tao. Kaming pamilya hindi binibigyan pero kayo isang hingi niyo lang binibigyan kayo,” said the weeping teenager as she embraced her father.

Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, has asked Senior Insp. Emelito dela Cruz, Samal police chief, to speed-up the investigation.
