Suspected drug peddler gunned down

    SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – A suspected drug peddler from Gapan City found his untimely death when unidentified suspects shot him repeatedly while traveling on board a tricycle along Maharlika Highway here allegedly to deliver shabu to an unidentified client in Cabanatuan City.

    Chief Insp. Francisco Mateo III, town police chief, said the victim, identified the victim as Jose Nomerv Figuerroa, 43, a resident of Barangay San Vicente, Gapan City, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

    Investigation showed the victim was on board a tricycle driven by a certain Anthony Salonga of San Lorenzo, Gapan City at about 2:30 p.m. when repeatedly fired at with cal. 45 pistol by the suspects on board a pick-up without a displayed license plate.

    He was rushed to Lacson General Hospital here but was declared dead on the spot.

    Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, head of the Nueva Ecija police’s intelligence branch, said that based on a follow up investigation, the victim was listed in the city’s drug watchlist.

    Salonga, who was spared by the attackers, told investigators they were to deliver illegal drugs to an unidentified person in Barangay Barrera, Cabanatuan City.

    Mateo said follow up investigations are being conducted to identify the attackers.
