TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — An anti-drug sting turned bloody, resulting to the death of a suspected peddler of shabu in Barangay Burnay here at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Talavera police chief Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito said Jeffrey Andasan, resident of Barangay San Pascual here, allegedly engaged the operatives “to an armed encounter” but not before an undercover cop bought from him two sachets of shabu.
Andasan, she said, initiated “a firefight against the responding police officers that prompted them to defend themselves and return fire against the said suspect.”
The suspect sustained fatal wounds, she said.
Investigators recovered from the suspect one .38 revolver, the P1000 marked bill and additional nine sachets of shabu, Desamito said.
The station drug enforcement team conducted the buy–bust operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, she added.
