LIMAY, Bataan — Operatives from the municipal police station here on Wednesday night arrested the suspect in the stabbing to death on the same night of a barangay kagawad who was on his way home after attending a basketball match in the village.
Major Gerald John Bautista, Limay police chief, identified the suspect as a 42-year-old construction worker, a “dayo” in the area from the Visayas. The suspect was arrested with the assistance of villagers after he stabbed for still unknown reason Darwin Aboganda, 43, first kagawad of Barangay St. Fancis 2, Limay.
Luciano Aboganda, 84, said he was with his son at the basketball court of St. Francis 2 but he decided to leave earlier because he resides in the mountain. He said he left his son in the basketball court but one of his children later informed him that Darwin was stabbed and already dead.
“Wala itong kaaway simula ipanganak dahil bakla ito,” the old man said. He said the suspect is renting a house in Purok 4 of the barangay.
“Ang gusto kong mangyari ay mag-away kami ng sumaksak sa aking anak at kung sino mamatay ay pasensyahan na lang. Palabasin ito sa kulungan at mag-away muna sila at maglaban sa labas dulo’t dulo magtalian,” Luciano said.
Bautista said the kagawad was walking home at about 7:20 in the evening of Wednesday after presiding over a committee on the barangay basketball league. “Tinambangan ito ng suspect sa madilim na parte ng lugar papunta sa bahay nito. Isang sugat lang ang tama nito sa dibdib at marahil ay natamaan ang vital organ kaya ito namatay,” the chief of police said.
The victim was rushed to the Limay Community Clinic.
“Sa aming follow-up operation ay nahuli namin ang suspek na nanaksak sa kagawad at nasa amin na itong himpilan para mai-file ang kaukulang kaso,” Bautista said, adding that they are preparing a murder case against the suspect. Bautista said investigation is still going on to establish the motive for the killing of the victim.
