CABANATUAN CITY – Over 300 ranking police officers and anti-illegal drugs operatives underwent a surprise drug testing at the Nueva Ecija police provincial office here Monday.
Senior Supt. Eliseo Tanding, provincial police director, said the policemen who include chiefs of police and their deputies and elements of the so called drug enforcement units from the province’s five cities and 27 municipalities were tested to make sure no one is engaged in drug use.
The activity, he said, was inspired by President Duterte’s declaration of a “unrelenting” and “chilling” anti-drug campaign during his recent State of the Nation Address.
Tanding said one policeman, whom he did not identify, in Gapan City is now subject of further investigation after being tested positive to drug use sometime in June.
“We have the due process,” Tanding said saying that those who will fail the test will face appropriate charges.
The Nueva Ecija PNP Crime Laboratory Office conducted the testing.
