CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The high probability of Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda’s reelection got even higher with the recent endorsement he received from the Iglesia ni Cristo.
“Ako po at ang aking pamilya ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa mga kapatid at sa Pamamahala ng Iglesia ni Cristo sa kanilang patuloy na pagtitiwala sa amin bilang ama ng Lalawigan ng Pampanga,” Pineda said.
“Makakaasa po kayo na susuklian ko ng mabuting pamumuno at pagmamahal sa lahat ng mga Kapampangan ang ang inyong ginawang pagtitiwala sa akin,” he added.
The bloc vote that the religious group provides to their chosen candidates is, in the case of Pineda, “a capstone” of his first reelection bid “built upon performance that greatly benefited his constituents.” This, according to political observers here.
Pineda has campaigned on the strength of his administration’s accomplishments since serving his first term in 2019 following a landslide win. His campaign sorties and motorcades have also figured large crowds of supporters in all 19 towns and two cities of Pampanga.
Pineda had also generated the support of various sectors including farmers, youth, workers, transport, the elderly, and health professionals.
All surveys from respectable pollsters show Pineda leading his lone rival, former Mayor Danilo Baylon of Candaba, by a wide margin considered as “insurmountable.”
Pineda polled 74.9 percent against Baylon’s 17.1 percent in a survey conducted by Probe Data Processing and Research Services. The satisfaction rate Pineda garnered even reached 88.1 percent.
A separate survey conducted by Argus Polls Inc. showed Pineda to be the preferred candidate by 78 percent or 19,705 of 25,206 voters polled last March. Only 5,502 voters or 22 percent chose Baylon.
Aside from the governor, the INC also endorsed several members of the Kambilan Party including re-electionist Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda who is running unopposed, and 2nd District board member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab.
