HONG KONG, February 24, 2025 – This March, Hong Kong is inviting tourists and locals alike to immerse themselves in the dynamic energy of the city during ‘Super March’, a celebration of world-class art fairs, outdoor festivals, gallery presentations, auction house spring sales, and more. Having established itself as an unmissable destination with vibrant art and cultural destinations over the years, Hong Kong promises to captivate tourists seeking to enrich their travels this March. Part of the many exhibitions this year is a heartfelt remembrance of the artistry of a well-loved Filipino artist.

A Solo Show in Asia

Uniquely positioned as Asia’s leading arts hub, Hong Kong is host to major international events during ‘Super March’. A focal point of the month’s programming, Art Basel’s sole show in Asia, Art Basel Hong Kong will return to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center with 240 galleries from 28 – 30 March 2025, with representation from 42 countries and territories – offering a diverse range of global practices that bring artistic diversity to the city.

Proudly Filipina, Proudly Pacita

Art Basel Hong Kong brings Encounters, one of the many show sectors this year, highlighting 18 large-scale installations by artists from all over the world. Featured in this exhibition is the Philippines’ own late Pacita Abad, a heralded artist who created larger-than-life pieces all throughout her life and artistic career, conveying figurative socio-political matters. Her works for this gallery are ambitious explorations of iconographies and techniques from the Global South, spotlighted for this month-long event. Outside of Art Basel, her works can be viewed at Silverlens and Tina Kim Gallery.

More Filipino influence at this year’s Art Basel comes in the form of Soler and Luis Antonio Santos who will be showcasing their work through the Manila-based gallery, The Drawing Room. Soler and Luis Antonio’s works are set to complement each other as they bring both abstraction and photorealism to their pieces, respectively. Both Soler and Luis Antonio have solidified their mark on the local Filipino art scene, with Soler heading the West Gallery in Quezon City.
