CABANATUAN CITY – Rice stores that are accredited to sell government subsidized grains received only 25 bags allocation per week from the National Fgod Authority (NFA), thus residents had to rush when the quota arrives.

Residents have lined up in stores at Sangitan Public Market to buy three kilos of NFA rice at P32 per kilo, the cheapest available in the market here, on Tuesday but many of them ended up buying commercial rice instead.

“Sobrang aga po nauubos ng NFA rice,” Evangeline, a housewife, lamented as she turned to commercial rice which lowest price is P45 a kilo.

Like other residents nearby, she will have to wait for Tuesday or Wednesday next week or look for another store around if she wants to get NFA rice.

Genoveva Villar, manager of NFA Nueva Ecija, said there are only about 5,000 bags of rice which the agency distributes to sellers in the whole province to date.

She expressed hope they will receive allocation of imported rice soon to improve their stocks
