CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A student of the Tarlac Agricultural College (TAC) was shot dead while his classmate as reported in critical condition after they were fired at by a still unidentified motorcyle-riding suspect in in Barangay Calayaan in Gerona, Tarlac late Tuesday night.
In a report, Gerona police chief Supt. Ariel Rebancos Red identified the victims as Billy Joe Capitulo, 19, of Barangay Iba in San Jose, Tarlac, who died on the spot, andhis classmate Melshor Ancheta, 20, also of the same barangay, who was reported to be in critical condition at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.
Red said both victims are students of TAC in Camiling, Tarlac. Probers said the victims were also riding a motorcycle on their way home at about 11:45 p.m. the other night when the lone suspect fired at them while also driving his own motorcycle.
Gerona police intelligence officer Inspector Joel Gamboa said Ancheta, who was interviewed by probers at the hospital, reported that he and Capitulo had observed the gunman parked with his motorcycle in Barangay Calayaan.
Ancheta said he and Capitulo were on their way home from a birthday party where they did not even bother to drink alcoholic beverages. He also told probers there was no untoward incident of any kind at the party.
