Stringent health protocols imposed in Cabanatuan

CABANATUAN CITY – Gatherings in private places should never exceed 12 people, unless they came from a single household.

In religious activities, which should not exceed two hours, community singing is prohibited while a solo singer should at least be three meters away from the person next to him or her.

These were among the provisions of the Executive Order No. 0006-2021 or An Order Reiterating the Minimum Public Health Standards and Providing for Additional Guidelines in Preventing the Further Spread of Covid-19 in the City of Cabanatuan, that took effect on Wednesday, March 17.

The EO that was published in the city government’s social media page was issued amid increase in activcases of coronavirus disease in the country.

In this city which has a daytime population of one million, the active cases surged to 52 on March 18 from only 24 on March 13, based on report from the city health office.

The total number or confirmed Covid-19 cases was 724 as of March 18 from which 656 have recovered and 16 have died.

Aside from reiterating minimum public health standards, Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara’s EO also discouraged people from inviting visitors as well as holding reunions and other social gatherings.

The rule on 50 percent capacity remains for businesses such as restaurants, banks and others. They were urged to use MyCabanatuan QR Code Contact Tracing Application. 

Liquors or alcoholic drinks can be bought only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Ang pag-inom ng alcoholic drinks ay papayagan lamang sa pribadong lugar o mga tahanan. Bawal ang pagsasalo-salo sa iisang plato at kutsara, tinidor at iba pang kasangkapan,” said the city information office, adding that drinking is prohibited from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., the designated curfew hours.

Videoke is also prohibited.

The EO also provides that clients in hotels, resorts, and other accommodation facilities need to present medical certificate from municipal/city health center of their origin and QR Code generated from MyCabanatuan app.

Basketball, volleyball, and other contact sports remain prohibited while health protocols were enjoined in non-contact activities such as jogging, biking and zumba, among others.

Public rallies shall be limited to 12 persons, the EO mandated.

In transportation, people from other provinces have to present MyCabanatuan app-generated QR Code and medical certificate from place of origin, except for “life-and-death situations.

Private vehicles will be allowed for essential purposes but carpooling among persons living in different household is prohibited.
