CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – There are still no takers on the P500,000 reward money offered by Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda to anybody who has information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects in the slaying of Sasmuan municipal councilor Jesus “Boyet” Angeles last Oct. 6.
But on Monday, Pineda expressed confidence that the killers will be apprehended soon and persons with information on the killing will also soon come out.
But the victim’s widow, Ferly T. Angeles, 49, lamented that the police are still facing a blank wall since a case has yet to be filed against any suspect. “Our testimonies are not enough,” she bewailed.
Angeles recalled that they had an altercation with a certain Gary Sunga whom she claimed is a cousin of Sasmuan Vice Mayor Carlos Sunga, Jr. outside the Comelec office during the Comelec registration period for new voters.
She said her slain husband noticed that Sunga led some people to register as voters in Sasmuan but were obviously not from the town.
“Bisaya la ot re-rehistru dala (They are from the Visayas why do they register them)?” Angeles quoted the victim as asking which led to the altercation.
Angeles said her husband filed a complaint on September 29 before the Comelec that some people who were obviously not residents of the town were able to register as voters in the municipality.
A week later, he was attacked by still unknown assailants while jogging.
Angeles was slated to run for vice mayor in the 2019 elections under the ruling Kambilan party.
Meanwhile, Angeles’ daughter is running for vice mayor to continue her father’s service to the town.
Anney May Angeles, 25, filed her certificate of candidacy last week under Kambilan, the political party that has chosen the elder Angeles as its vice mayoral candidate days before he was attacked.
