The city police renewed calls for residents to strictly subscribe to the enhanced community quarantine order, “foremostly to be safe from Covid-19, and avoid run-ins with the law, as well.”
This, after police arrested last March 19 eight individuals in Sitio Sampaloc, Barangay Dolores here for violation of Section 9 (d) of Republic Act 11332(Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of the Public Health Concerns Act).
Criminal Case No. 20-0170, filed March 21, 2020, said Jerry Rondilla and Conrado Yanan, both of legal age and residents of Sitio Sampaloc, “failed to comply with the implementation of the [ECQ] by not staying home and by walking in the streets and both under deep state of drunkenness to the damage and prejudice of public health.”
Criminal Case No. 20-0171 also filed March 21, on the other hand, charged Roy Roncehero, Rovic Manlulu, Kelly Yusi, Edilon David, all of Sitio Samplaoc; and Jomar Sarmiento of Villa Barosa also in Barangay Dolores, and an unnamed minor,
for the same violation, with the specific “drinking liquor in the middle of the street.”
It was not stated if those charged in the first case came from or were part of the same drinking session indicated in the second case.
Recommended bail for the provisional liberty of the accused was P3,000 each.
Both charge sheets were signed by City Prosecutor Giselle Marie S. Geronimo and Associate Prosecution Attorney II Rodney C. Timbol.
A staff at the City Prosecutor’s Office reportedly told the accused “E pikayli-kayli ing e bibirung pisasabiyan(This is no laughing matter)” to impact the seriousness in implementing the ECQ.
