SAMAL, Bataan: The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Sta. Lucia here handed out free school supplies to school children aged 15 years old and above Tuesday, a week before the opening of classes.
The distribution of the school supplies was a project of the Sta. Lucia SK chaired by Mitzie Malixi with full support of the Sangguniang Barangay headed by Hector Forbes.
“Maraming kabataan ang hindi kayang mamili ng kanilang gamit sa school kaya ito na ang pagkakataon na matulungan sila.” Malixi said. She said the beneficiaries are those from their sector, 15 years old and above.
Kagawad Ernie Siasat of Barangay Sta. Lucia confirmed that the project was initiated and from the fund of the barangay SK that benefitted more than 50 school children aged 15 years old and above in high school and senior high school.
The beneficiaries were required to bring five empty plastic bottles in exchange for the school supplies. “Plastic bottles bilang pangangalaga sa kalikasan upang maiwasan ang pagkalat nito sa mga daan at ilog,” Siasat said.
Parents who accompanied their children were thankful for the free school supplies that they said will help cut their expenses. Some of the school supplies were binder notebook, pad paper, correction tape, white glue, pencil and ball pens, among some others.
