TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Members of the Hardinero Agriculture Cooperative in Sta. Ignacia town underwent skills training on mango processing provided by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac.
This initiative is under the DTI Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program which aims to help agrarian beneficiaries improve the quality of their products in a bid to cope with the demands of the market.
DTI Tarlac Trade-Industry Development Specialist Rhina Villapaña explained that the cooperative members focused on mango-based products to add value to their produce.
“The relevance of this training is to create additional products for the cooperative other than their existing products–dried mangoes, mango vinegar, and dried kamias. We are also hoping that through this, the cooperative will be able to participate in DTI-organized trade fairs to further their market reach,” she stated.
Villapaña shared that the beneficiaries were trained on making pastries, confectioneries, and drinks using mango as the main ingredient.
DTI Tarlac, through its Negosyo Center, will continue to monitor and support the skills and business development of the beneficiaries. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
