The Luzon Central 2 Division of Social Security System (SSS) participated in the nationwide Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign on April 28, with the goal of enforcing employer compliance and intensifying contribution collection.
SSS branches in Malolos, San Jose Del Monte, Pampanga, Angeles, and Olongapo simultaneously conducted the RACE operations and released written orders to 38 employers due to non-remittance of SSS contributions with total delinquency of P26.8 million.
According to SSS Vice President for Luzon Central 2 Gloria Corazon M. Andrada, the participation of their division in the nationwide campaign aims to ensure the social security protection of 1,558 private employees under their jurisdiction by promoting active SSS membership and timely remittance of Social Security (SS) and Employees’ Compensation (EC) contributions.
“Social security protection is a fundamental right of every employee and that the SSS is taking its duty seriously as an organization responsible for administering this protection,” Andrada said.
Regular remittance of contributions is crucial for workers’ eligibility to Social Security (SS) benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, death and funeral, as well as Employees’ Compensation (EC) benefits for work-related contingencies. Employed members can also avail of loan privileges like salary and calamity loan.
Employers who were subjected to the operation were given a non-extendible 15-day period to coordinate with their respective SSS branches to comply and avoid legal sanctions. They can also avail of the ongoing contribution penalty condonation program by paying in full or through installment up to 48 months depending on the total amount of delinquency.
In addition, delinquent household employers can also avail of the contribution penalty condonation and restructuring program which offers up to 36 monthly installments.
“The RACE campaign reflects SSS’ commitment in enforcing full compliance of employers to their legal obligations. Rest assured that SSS will constantly monitor them through our Account Officers to ensure the full settlement of their delinquency. We hope that all employers who were subjected to RACE will remain to be diligent in fulfilling their duties as mandated by the law,” Andrada concluded.
