MALOLOS CITY (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) has launched the Contribution Subsidy Provider Program (CSPP) with Barangay Santisima Trinidad in Malolos City among the pilot areas.
SSS Luzon Central 2 Division Vice President Gloria Corazon Andrada explained that the CSPP aims to enroll street sweepers, truck drivers, ambulance drivers and utility workers serving the barangay as SSS members as they are not entitled to monthly premiums unlike regular government employees.

“The barangay government will subsidize the contribution without deduction to their honoraria,” she added.
Santisima Trinidad Punong Barangay Rommel Alenia said enrolling the first six workers to SSS was inspired by his own experience as a former construction foreman.
“Our family has benefitted from various SSS programs in the last 21 years from maternity to retirement to sickness as well as the death and funeral of my parents,” he shared.
These experiences motivated him to pursue the subsidy to the CSPP instead of increasing the honoraria of barangay workers.
“Increase in honoraria is good but having a contribution to SSS will ensure a lifetime of benefits from womb to tomb,” Alenia emphasized.
The Barangay Government of Santisima Trinidad has allocated P54,000 for the first six months contribution to SSS.
A resolution is set to be passed by the barangay council to ensure that the funding for the SSS contribution will be sustainable beyond the term of the current officials. (CLJD/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
