MARIVELES, Bataan (PIA) — Social Security System (SSS) Mariveles branch issued written notices to seven delinquent employers who failed to remit their employees’ contributions within the prescribed payment period.

This is part of the agency’s Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program.

Luzon Central 1 Division Vice President Vilma Agapito explained that under the RACE program, delinquent employers are given 15 days from receipt of the order for settlement to coordinate with SSS, and failure to do so will lead to an issuance of a formal demand letter to begin the legal process.

“Another 10 days will be given to them to comply with the demand letter, and non-compliance during the said period will prompt the agency to file a case in violation of Republic Act 11199 otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 2018 to the Prosecutor’s Office,” she furthered.

The sanction provided by law against employers who do not comply with their obligations is imprisonment of six years and one day up to 12 years

“Should they have difficulty in paying their delinquency through one-time payment, they can avail of the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP 3),” Agapito added.

PRRP 3 is an enhanced installment payment program which offers flexible payment terms ranging from nine to 60 months, depending on the total amount of delinquency.

Based on records, the total delinquency of unpaid contributions including penalties amounted to P874,521.

Agapito said they advised the employers to coordinate with their assigned Account Officers in SSS Mariveles located at the basement of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan Administration Building.

“They will be assisted in reconciling their records and filing the application for PRRP 3,” she said.

Agapito urged employees to regularly check their records and report to SSS of any unremitted contributions for proper action.
