CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) Cabanatuan Branch is intensifying the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign to remind the obligations that every employer must fulfill.
About 14 establishments were recently subjected to RACE.
SSS Cabanatuan Branch Manager Jose Rizal Tarun said this is their fifth RACE activity this year.
“We will continue to increase the awareness of employers of their obligations such as ensuring registration of all employees with the SSS within 30 days upon employment and appropriate remittance of their monthly contributions,” he pressed.
Employees may be deprived of claiming SSS benefits if employers do not comply with the appropriate remittance of their contributions.
Meanwhile, the 14 establishments recently subjected to RACE must comply with the time set by the branch in registering their employees and settling delinquencies.

Among the establishments visited were employers who have not been able to remit employees’ contributions, with established collectibles exceeding P529,000.
“When an employer does not pay on time, they will have a two percent penalty per month, so we encourage them to immediately comply so that the penalty they must pay will not increase,” Tarun furthered.
He reminded all establishments to comply with the provisions of the SSS, under Republic Act 11199, so that they and their employees can enjoy the benefits they will need when the time comes.
SSS members are entitled to sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral benefits, and the employees’ compensation benefit for members whose cause of illness or death is work-related.
Tarun also encouraged members to register at My.SSS so that they can monitor their records anywhere and anytime.
“This is also a way for employees to verify if the contribution deducted by their employers has been remitted to SSS,” Tarun added.
Data provided by SSS Cabanatuan branch showed that 11 percent or 768 employers are not paying contributions out of the 6,835 total active business establishments.
The branch covers 24 towns and cities in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th legislative districts of Nueva Ecija. (CLJD/CCN, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
