CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija—The Social Security System (SSS) conducted its SSS Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign here on June 27 as it intensified its nationwide campaign against non-compliant employers.

SSS Executive Vice President for Branch Operations Sector Judy Frances A. See said that the RACE is part of the continuing efforts of the SSS to ensure full compliance with Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

“The RACE Campaign shall instill awareness among employers on their obligations under the SS Law,” See added.

During the RACE Operations, Show Cause Orders were posted at 13 establishments for non-registration, non-production of records, and non-remittance of SSS contributions. Six of these were trading businesses, namely Younique Trading Corporation, JK Toys Trading, Chabeng’s Trading, Babalik Inc., Lucky DS Trading, and G-RAM Technology Computer Trading and Services; while two were beauty parlors, namely, Mark and Angie Salon, and Abbygaille’s Salon.

Three employers are in the merchandise business, namely, ZC Plasticwares and Glasswares, Mactal Hardware, and 268 General Merchandise; while two service-related industries, including MGM Offroads and Car Essentials, and Casa Animalia Veterinary Clinic and Grooming Center also received the same notice from SSS.

Under the law, employers must be duly registered with the SSS on the first day of business operations, report their employees within 30 days from their first day of work, submit their employee records to the SSS Account Officer for payroll audit, and pay their employee’s contributions regularly.

“Delinquent employers who will not comply with the directives under the Show Cause Order within the non-extendable period of 15 days from posting will face legal consequences,” See added.

RACE serves as a reminder that employers found guilty for violation of the SS Law shall suffer imprisonment of up to 12 years. They are also obliged to pay their contribution delinquencies and penalties.

“We also encourage all delinquent employers, including those who we visited during the RACE Campaign, to avail of the ongoing Contribution Penalty Condonation Program until September 1, 2019. Please avoid last minute filing and visit our nearest SSS branch as early as possible,” See concluded.

The SSS conducted its second wave of RACE campaign nationwide particularly in Binondo, Manila, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, and Iligan in Lanao del Norte. It was recalled that the first ever simultaneous RACE Campaign was held last June 14 in New Panaderos, Mandaluyong City; San Fernando Pampanga; Mandaue, Cebu; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.
