OLONGAPO CITY — The city business permit and licensing office cited the Top 20 most outstanding business taxpayers of 2021 and 2022 during the flag raising ceremony last Monday.
Representatives of SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown beamed with pride as they received the plaques of appreciation from Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. for making it once again on the top list in terms of paying business taxes.
Since 2013, SM Olongapo has been consistently leading the taxpayers list, making it a remarkable benefactor for sustaining, maintaining, and improving the public services provided by the government to its citizens.
Paying taxes is very essential because taxes are the government’s revenue for financing public spending, including building roads, school buildings, and hospitals and for funding local government services.
The Most Outstanding Business Taxpayers for 2021 are (as ranked): 1. Meridien Business Leader, Inc. -The SM Store SM, City Olongapo Downtown; 2. Supervalue, Inc.- SM Supermarket, SM City Olongapo Downtown; 3. Main Shopping Princess Phils., Inc. -The SM Store, SM City Olongapo Central; 4. Supervalue, Inc. – SM Supermarket, SM City Olongapo Central; 5. Star Appliance Center, Inc. -SM City Olongapo Downtown; 6. Puregold Price Club, Inc.; 7. SM Prime Holdings, Inc.-SM City Olongapo Central; 8. Ace Hardware Phils., Inc. SM City Olongapo Downtown; 9. SM Prime Holdings, Inc. -SM City Olongapo Downtown; and 10. GR888T GR Corp.
For the year 2022, the top business taxpayers are: 1. Main Shopping Princess Phils., Inc.- The SM Store SM City Olongapo Central; 2. Wilcon Depot, Inc.; 3. Meridien Business Leader, Inc.-The SM Store, SM City Olongapo Downtown; 4. Supervalue, Inc.-SM Supermarket, SM City Olongapo Central; 5. Supervalue, Inc.-SM Supermarket, SM City Olongapo Downtown; 6. Star Appliance Center, Inc. -SM City Olongapo Downtown; 7. SM Prime Holdings, Inc.-SM City Olongapo Central; 8. DCMF Golden Wings Development Corp.; 9. Ace Hardware Phils., Inc.-SM City Olongapo Downtown; and 10. SM Prime Holdings, Inc.- SM City Olongapo Downtown.
According to BPLO chief Sandra Dee Ecalnir, “Ang maitutulong po ng ating mga topnotchers sa pagbabayad ng business tax 2021-2022 na binigyan natin ng parangal last flag ceremony ay ang pagkokolekta ng taxes ay mapupunta sa magagandang proyekto ng ating lungsod. Yun po ang tulong ng ating business community, ng ating partners para sa economic growth ng Olongapo City.”
Paulino commended these companies and hopes that this would inspire other taxpayers to do same and contribute to the revenue of the city to sustain the various programs, including the emergency health measures, and some of the development projects. SM-PR
