SM Olongapo Malls and the rest of SM Malls nationwide joined the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a quarterly National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) activity that seeks to educate the public on disaster preparedness. SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown support this project to better equip employees when earthquake strikes. In the continuing run of the NSED, growing public participation has been noted as well as the involvement of private sector organizations in support of this project. In line with this, SM Supermalls has been conducting a mall-wide quarterly earthquake drill in participation to the NSED.
It aims to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of employees, tenants and customers in the event of a seismic disaster. With its proactive approach, SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown set a remarkable example of responsible corporate citizenship and emergency management.
Recognizing the importance of being well-prepared for unforeseen emergencies, SM emphasizes the significance of early warning systems, effective evacuation procedures, and post-incident response measures. The activity provided an opportunity for employees to familiarize themselves with the appropriate actions to take in case of an earthquake and also educated front liners and tenants about safety protocols.
