Balanga, Bataan – September 20, 2025 —The bayanihan spirit shone bright as 113 volunteers from SM City Bataan, local schools, government offices, NGOs, and civic groups united for a coastal cleanup at the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park.

With gloves, sacks, and determination in hand, participants cleared 272 kilograms of waste from the shoreline — from plastic debris to discarded nets — each item collected symbolizing progress toward cleaner seas and a healthier community.

Their efforts were part of a much larger movement. Across the country, more than 48,800 volunteers joined the International Coastal Cleanup 2025, removing over 200,000 kilograms of trash from 20 coastal and waterway sites. Together, these actions turned cleanup areas into powerful reminders of what communities can achieve when working for the planet.

Through the #SMGreenMovement, SM Prime continues to champion sustainability by focusing on waste management, water stewardship, and energy efficiency. These initiatives empower communities to embrace simple, everyday actions that create lasting positive impact.

This year’s cleanup carried the global theme “Clean Seas Against the Climate Crisis” — the world’s largest volunteer effort to protect the oceans. It calls on individuals everywhere to make a difference in their own communities by cleaning up beaches, waterways, and neighborhoods.

Every bottle, bag, and piece of litter removed brings us one step closer to a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future.
