The Samahang Manggagawa ng Hanjin identified the victim as Menard Bartolome, native of Cagayan, residing at Castillejos, Zambales and working as painter under Zambanas Pinas Corp., a sub-contractor of Hanjin.
Report said at that about 12 midnight, the victim was about to enter the blasting part of the painting section part 1, not knowing somebody pushed the button at the end of the sliding double door that caused his head to be pinned at the door.
The victim was rush to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Records from Samahan indicate that Bartolome’s death was the 38th recorded work-related death inside Hanjin shipbuilding firm since it started operations in 2006.
Authorities are still conducting investigation to the incident.
