SK officials attend mandatory training, take oath

Samal, Bataan — Members of the sangguniang kabataan here who won in the elections last Oct. 30 underwent SK mandatory training (SKMT) and later took their oath of office on Nov. 11. 

Section 28 of RA 10742 or the SK Reform Act of 2015, amended by RA 11768, mandates that newly-elected SK members and members of the Local Youth Development Council should undergo the SKMT before assuming office.

The training was conducted to prepare the SK members, composed of an SK chairman and seven SK kagawad per village in 14 barangays of Samal, in their duties and responsibilities.

The Samal municipal government headed by Mayor Alexander Acuzar organized the training at the function hall of the Samal municipal hall through the Local Youth Development Office and in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Subjects discussed in the SKMT were on decentralization and local governance, SK history and salient features, meetings and resolutions of SK, planning and budgeting and code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees. 

After the training, the SK chairmen and SK kagawad took their oath before Mayor Acuzar right at the Samal municipal hall. 

For barangay officials in 237 villages in Bataan, mass oathtaking was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City.
