MABALACAT CITY — Vice Mayor Noel Castro dismissed the charges filed against him by a certain Noel Maglalang as lacking in substance and “plain political harassment.”
Castro is contesting the city mayorship with incumbent Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales and his namesake, Noli Castro who failed in his bid for the provincial board in 2010.
In a telephone interview yesterday, Castro also said “my conscience is clear.” He described the complainant as an employee of the city government.
Castro said yesterday that he was actually on his way to the Office of the Ombudsman to file his counter affidavit. The vice mayor said he already requested the Commission on Audit (COA) to examine the books of the barangay (Bundagul) to prove that no money was spent for his personal use.
“Ala linwal a pera keng barangay (No money came out of the village funds),” he said, appealing to the people to wait for the outcome of the COA report.
