CABANATUAN CITY – Two armed men found to be no match to a young security guard who saved the life of a family of businessman by a timely fire in Barangay Kapt. Pepe here over the weekend.
In his report, Supt. Efren Ramos, city police chief, said one of the suspects, identified as Joselito Javier,45, a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Bonifacio, also of this city, was killed in the foiled daytime heist.
However, the suspect’s companion managed to escaped.
The security guard, who also served as family driver, was identified as Johnson Dulnuan, a native of Barangay Balawis, Banawe, Ifugao, and now lives at No. 696 5th Street, Phase II, Kapitan Pepe subdivision, this city.
Investigation disclosed the family of Hermie Angayon, owner of a Diamond money changing business, along with some employees were on board a Mitsubishi L300 FB van when the attempted robbery happened.
The passengers include employees Helen,45; Analyn,20; Richard,19; all surnamed Dulnuan.
They were on their way home when the suspects, on board a single motorcycle, crossed their path and announced a hold-up.
Instead of panicking, the guard drew his gun and exchanged fire with Javier who was hit in his body. Javier died instantly, police said.
Dulnuan then surrendered to the police.
Ramos said investigators recovered from Javier a Smith and Wesson cal. 38 revolver. Ramos added that Javier’s mobile phone revealed the duo’s plans, including the family’s whereabouts, and other criminal activities.
