The Securities and Exchange Commission- Tarlac Extension Office (SEC-TAREO) recently visited the province of Aurora to strengthen its investor education campaign and establish partnerships with public stakeholders for capital market promotion and investor protection advocacies under the SEC-CAN (Communication, Advocacy and Network) strategic initiative.

During the provincial visit, a one-stop shop caravan of SEC frontline services was held at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-Aurora Provincial Office in the town of Baler. The SEC-TAREO assisted the agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) with their SEC registration, amnesty program application for non-compliant and revoked associations and in the online submission of their annual reportorial requirements.

To solidify this collaboration, a memorandum of agreement was signed by SEC-TAREO Director Richard R. Laus and DAR-Aurora Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Precy E. Landingin to empower more agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) through investor education and financial literacy.

The SEC-TAREO delegation also paid courtesy visits to Aurora Governor Christian Noveras, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Aurora Provincial Director Aldrin Veneracion and Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) President, Dr. Eutiquio Rotaquio, Jr. to establish effective linkages and expand the SEC’s network in promoting financial consumer protection against investment scams and in conducting investor education programs and activities that will foster financial literacy and inclusion and capital market promotion in the province. Information, education, and communication materials on investor protection and personal finance were likewise distributed by SEC-TAREO to its partners during the said visits.

Director Laus thanked the government leaders in Aurora for expressing their full support to SEC programs and initiatives in promoting capital market development, good corporate governance, enhancing investor protection and improving the ease of doing business in the country.

“The SEC is committed to upholding the financial health of every Filipino from all walks of life, including the marginalized members of our society and this provincial visit is part of the Commission’s larger efforts to bring SEC services closer to people,” Laus said.

Aurora is the eighth province visited by SEC-TAREO this year under its campaign network initiatives after Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac and Zambales.
