Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – Tarlac Extension Office conducted an investor education roadshow in Paniqui town to promote financial literacy and responsible investment practices.
A total of 200 students of CIT Colleges of Paniqui Foundation, Inc. attended the seminar, gaining practical insights on personal finance, smart and sustainable investments, and ways to spot and avoid investment scams.
The discussions were delivered by the resource persons from SEC Tarlac, led by Director Richard R. Laus, who highlighted the importance of this partnership under the SEC-Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC-CAN!) initiative to promote investor education and financial empowerment among students and the academe.
“This initiative is a crucial step in helping our youth develop essential financial literacy skills. By empowering students with knowledge on personal finance and sustainable investments in the capital market, we are preparing them to make informed decisions that will benefit them throughout their lives,” said Director Laus.
For his part, Orly E. Carlos, Head of the Office of Student Affairs and Services of CIT Colleges of Paniqui, expressed support for the program, noting that SEC Tarlac’s efforts to bring investor education closer to students would help them make smarter financial decisions and foster responsible economic behavior in their communities.
This roadshow marks the start of a year-long series of campus visits across Central Luzon, with more events expected in different provinces. Designed to reach both students and educators, the initiative aims to provide practical financial knowledge, build essential skills for informed investment and personal finance decisions, and raise awareness on identifying and avoiding investment scams.
