The Securities and Exchange Commission- Tarlac Extension Office (SEC-TAREO) has entered into a partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tarlac Province Inc. (PCCI-Tarlac) to empower Tarlaqueño business owners and entrepreneurs in promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth and investor protection.

SEC-Tarlac Director, Atty. Richard Laus, SEC Information Officer Mark Catacutan, PCCI-Tarlac President Aileen Uy- Chan and PCCI-Tarlac Chairman Juanito Ho signed the memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the SEC Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC CAN) campaign during the PCCI-Tarlac Coffee Talks held on September 29, 2023 at the Capitol Center Building, Tarlac City.

In a statement, Director Laus said this collaboration under the SEC CAN initiative will highlight programs, activities, and interventions on the fundamentals of investing, financial literacy, investor protection, and investment scam prevention through information dissemination, promotion, and knowledge and resource sharing.

“The SEC and the PCCI-Tarlac will also promote innovative finance and the development of the capital market among the Mirco, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and local investors in the province,” Laus added.

As the gateway to doing business in the Philippines, the SEC is mandated to provide a competitive and secure environment for easy company registration, efficient capital formation and broad investor participation with the support from government regulators, professional and business organizations, local government units (LGUs), the academe, non-government organizations (NGOs), market participants and all stakeholders in investor education and advocacies.

For her part, PCCI-Tarlac President Aileen Uy-Chan expressed her gratitude to SEC-TAREO for this partnership that will provide better services to the business community in the province.

“This is a good sign that both the SEC and the PCCI-Tarlac are making active efforts to provide a better business environment in the province and we look forward to more fruitful partnerships that will benefit more Tarlaqueños,” Chan said.

Being the broadest business non-government organization (NGO) in the whole province, the PCCI-Tarlac has the widest and strongest networking capacity in pursuing the interest of the business community and in delivering excellent services and programs for the welfare of the MSMEs and the local business climate in the province of Tarlac.
