The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has lauded the executive order
(EO)issued by Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda directing “all component cities and municipalities in the Province of Pampanga and their respective barangays” to disseminate information, education and advocacy materials about investment scam prevention.
The said EO is the support of the Provincial Government of Pampanga to the mandates of SEC “to diminish and prevent investment fraud or any deceptive solicitation of investments from the public” and the outcome of the agreement reached by the two parties during the courtesy visit of SEC Officials to Governor Pineda last March 8.
“The Commission welcomed this EO that will protect Kapampangan investors against unauthorized investment schemes and we are very thankful to Governor Pineda for backing SEC initiatives in the promotion of sustainable and inclusive economic growth and investor protection in the Province of Pampanga,” Director Richard R. Laus of SEC Tarlac Extension Office said in a statement.
The provincial government also recognized the need to mobilize the local governments to reinforce efforts in educating and empowering the investing public on the red flags of investment scams and to properly safeguard their money from unauthorized investment schemes.
Under EO 09, Governor Pineda ordered all local chief executives of component cities and municipalities in the province to reproduce and disseminate advocacy materials in avoiding investment scams and post them on the bulletin boards and other conspicuous places in their respective municipal or city halls and to direct their barangay leaders under their jurisdiction to post the said materials in their barangay halls
For its part, the SEC will provide campaign materials against investment scams such as posters and brochures translated into the Kapampangan language to be distributed to the local government units in the province.
