MABALACAT CITY – The search is on for the next king and queen of this city as organizers set off the region’s most awaited beauty pageant.
The Miss Mabalacat City had its initial screening on November 8 at the Xevera Subdivision in Barangay Tabun here while the screening for Mr. Mabalacat or Haring Caragan was held the following day. Both activities are part of the Mabalacat Fiesta celebration for 2015.
Haring Caragan is the Aeta chieftain who is said to have led the foundation of Mabalacat as a town in the 18th century.
Jhune Magbalot, pageant chairman, said the show is aimed not only at presenting the beauty and talents of Mabalaqueňos but also in honoring the city’s rich cultural heritage. The search is open to all single male and female aged 17 to 24 years old; at least 5 feet and 4 inches tall for girls and 5 feet 6 inches for boys. The candidates should be bona fide residents of this city.
The winner will automatically become the city’s representative to the Mutya ning Kapampangan (Miss Pampanga), a centerpiece event of the annual Aldo Ning Kapampangan. Magbalot said the fiesta celebrations next year will also include the popular Caragan Festival and Balik Saya, a fellowship and gala night for locals and balikbayans.
