MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, was recently honored at the 2024 United Nations Regional Asia-Pacific Women’s Empowerment Principles (UN WEPs) Awards. The company was the national winner for the Gender-Inclusive Workplace Award for its ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric’s Country President for the Philippines achieved remarkable recognition by winning the national Leadership Commitment Award and securing first runner-up in the subsequent Asia-Pacific stage. This accolade highlights her exceptional leadership in promoting gender equality.
“This award is a reflection of Schneider Electric’s strong commitment to equality and inclusion,” said Ireen Catane, Country President of Schneider Electric Philippines. “As a female leader, I recognize the challenges women face, but I also believe in their strength and potential. Our initiatives like the Women with Impact mentoring program and Global Family Leave policy empower women throughout their careers. I am proud to be part of an organization that works to break barriers and inspire an entire community to create lasting impact.”
Schneider Electric integrates sustainability by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across its operations. Its DEI strategy focuses on three priorities: fostering a healthy work environment, ensuring equity throughout the employee experience, and partnering with organizations to address systemic inequities.
This commitment is demonstrated in initiatives such as comprehensive health and wellness platforms, well-being training, and inclusive work processes like meeting subtitles, transparent masks, and human-supported meeting transcriptions via tablets, and adherence to the UN Free and Equal Standards, fostering a culture of respect and fair treatment for all.
“As a global company, we welcome people from all walks of life, embracing different perspectives so that every person feels uniquely valued, safe, and empowered to contribute their best,” added Catane.
The 2024 WEPs Awards is part of the new ‘UN Women Gender Action Lab: Innovation and Impact for Gender Equality in Asia-Pacific’ initiative supported by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the European Union. With over 10,000 global WEPs signatories, including more than 2,700 in the Asia-Pacific, the awards recognize leadership and advancements in gender equality and inclusion across private sectors.
