SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE (PIA) — The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) turned over P158.9 million in revenue shares for the second semester of 2025 to eight neighboring local government units (LGUs).

During a check distribution ceremony held March 3 at the SBMA Boardroom in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, SBMA Chairperson and Administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño said the amount exceeded the P143.17 million distributed in the same period last year by 10.99 percent, reflecting continued growth in freeport-generated revenues.

Olongapo City received the largest share at P36.73 million. It was followed by Subic, Zambales with P23.95 million; Dinalupihan, Bataan with P19.99 million; San Marcelino, Zambales with P19.14 million; Hermosa, Bataan with P17.06 million; Castillejos, Zambales with P14.44 million; Morong, Bataan with P14.09 million; and San Antonio, Zambales with P13.5 million.

Aliño said the revenue shares are computed based on 50 percent population, 25 percent land area, and 25 percent equal sharing among the recipient LGUs.

He emphasized that the agency extends these shares to neighboring LGUs to help fund programs on calamity response, health and safety, peace and order, livelihood generation, education, tourism, infrastructure, and social services.

Officials who witnessed the turnover included Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr.; SBMA Director Joseph Khonghun, representing the Municipality of Subic; San Marcelino Mayor Elvis Soria; Dinalupihan Mayor German Santos Jr.; San Antonio Mayor Arvin Antipolo; and Hermosa Municipal Administrator Rex Jorge.

The LGU shares come from the five percent tax paid by business locators inside the freeport, collected from January to June for the first semester and from July to December for the second semester, with releases made in August and in February of the following year, respectively.

In August 2025, SBMA distributed P197.85 million for the first semester, bringing the total revenue shares released to LGUs for 2025 to P356.74 million. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
