SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority employees who are deemed “essential” during the influx of tourists will have no days off during the Holy Week celebration inside this premier Freeport.
During the Meet the Press forum by Central Luzon Media Association Olongapo – Zambales Chapter (CLMA-ZO) held at the Skybar Subic Bay Restobar here on April 10, SBMA Law Enforcement Department (LED) OIC of the Communication Branch Lt. Roderick Gueso said that most LED personnel will have no days off during the Holy Week celebration here starting on April 13.
He cited that due to the influx of tourists and the current number of personnel in the LED, the need for these SBMA employees to step up is crucial in the smooth and efficient operation inside the Subic Bay Freeport.
He added that aside from tourists who frequent the Subic Bay Freeport as their vacation spot during the holidays, there are also those who use the freeport as a “pass through” going to Zambales and other places in the north. Aside from the LED, other SBMA offices including the fire, tourism, public health and safety, and the maintenance fepartments will also be on “full force” during the summer vacation.
Grueso urged tourists or visitors who pass by to provide water or hydration to these unsung heroes during the summer vacation as they would be out under the hot sun doing their jobs to ensure that the tourists and visitors get to their destinations safely. (Malou Dungog)
