SAP aid reaches 20K families in Bataan

ITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development has so far distributed financial assistance as part of its Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to 20,087 families in Bataan.

Mar Jay delas Alas, provincial officer of the Philippine Information Agency, said on Friday the total number of beneficiaries served was contained in a DSWD report night of Thursday, the deadline set by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Due to various requests for extension, DILG reset toMay 4 or 7, depending on population, as the new deadline for the completion of payment to all beneficiaries.

Each recipient is entitled to P6,500 cash. The payout is under DSWD’s Emergency Subsidy Program which is part of SAP. Beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) are not included in SAP.

There were reports that in some barangays in Bataan, payouts lasted until Thursday evening, but only 20,087 families out of the 96,668 approved beneficiaries have received the cash assistance.

Paid were Pilar – 2,437 families, Bagac – 532, Dinalupihan – 507, Hermosa – 3,280, Balanga City – 1,486, Limay – 650, Orion – 1,699,  Abcuay – 875, Samal – 161, Morong – 146, Mariveles – 1,872 and Orani – 6442.

This payout totaled more than P131.5 million.
