(SEARCH FOR CLEANEST AND GREENEST VILLAGE. The City Government of San Fernando formally launches this year’s Search for Cleanest and Greenest Village/Subdivision on February 11, 2019 at the Mini Convention Center, Heroes Hall. )

City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago urged members of Home Owners Association (HOA) of different villages and subdivisions in the capital city to implement and sustain cleanliness in their respective places.

Santiago made the appeal during the launching of the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Village/Subdivision on February 11, 2019 at the Mini Convention Center, Heroes Hall.

Initiated by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO), the program seeks to involve the villages and subdivisions in the city’s programs towards development.

CAVO and CENRO will conduct visitation and evaluation to all the participating villages and subdivisions based on the following criteria: cleanliness, aesthetics, absence of dumpsites, institutionalization of Solid Waste Management, edible garden, which requires less than three kinds of vegetables planted and growing vigorously, and, community involvement and sustainability.

Santiago reiterated that the city is battling for a zero-waste community, that is why environment protection and preservation is one of the local government’s top priorities.

He encouraged everyone to support the city’s actions towards green, livable, and sustainable City of San Fernando.

“Palagi tayong nag-iisip ng mga programa patungkol sa kalusugan at kalinisan, dahil naniniwala tayo na ang isang komunidad ay magiging maunlad kung ang kanyang mamamayan ay malulusog. Kaya naman ang susi diyan ay magkaisa tayo upang maprotektahan natin ang ating inang kalikasan, para sa susunod na henerasyon,” he ended.

Registration for the search is open until February 18, 2019 while the awarding of the Cleanest and Greenest Village/Subdivision will be on May 6, 2019 during the Monday’s flag raising ceremony.
