STO. TOMAS, Pampanga — After a three-year hiatus, the San Matias Elementary School Alumni Association, Inc. held its 3rd Grand Alumni Homecoming on Dec. 9 focused on the theme: “Aranasang Tula’t Saya, Balikdan tamu’t Bakalan; King Pamisasanmetung para king SMES a pakamalan.”
Hosted by the jubilarians batches of 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973, the celebration started with motorcade around the sitios of Barangay San Matias followed by the eucharistic celebration at the St. Matthias the Apostle Parish officiated by Rev. Fr. Ronnie D. Cao where alumni wore the designated colors of their batch.
At the program proper held at the SMES covered court late in the afternoon, retired teachers, guests, and 4th District board member Roland Balingit, representing Rep. Anna York Bondoc-Sagum, and Mayor Johnny A. Sambo took turns in delivering messages of felicitations.
SMES principal Juanito L. Rigor expressed his appreciation to all and congratulated Isabelita Manalastas-Watanabe, Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awardee (MOKA) 2023 in the field of Entrepreneurship, an alumna from Batch 1967, as a proud moment of the school, while Jeffrey Gomez, alumni president, shared his gratitude to all the host batches, sponsors, retired teachers, teaching force for making the event possible.
Various batch presentations, games and raffle prizes were distributed coming from the donors and solicitors which served as pre-Christmas party gift to the delight of all emceed by Budang and friend.
The SMESAA, Inc. established on March 18, 2018 and officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug. 24, 2020 aims to promote unity, collaboration and solidarity of the alumni and fostering and developing various projects and activities for the members, their beloved alma mater and to the community.
