FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — Some 200 individuals benefited from a medical and dental mission conducted by a civic organization in cooperation with the military in Barangay Kalikid Norte, Cabanatuan City on Tuesday.

The Rotary Club of Cabanatuan East led by its president Meoriko Lam partnered with the Army’s 7th Infantry Division headed by Major Gen. Andrew Costelo in extending free basic medical and dental services to the underprivileged residents of the village.

“We sent medical and dental teams from our Fort Magsaysay Army Station Hospital (FMASH) to assist the NGO in their humanitarian activity,” Costelo said. “We thank our partner, the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan East, for this kind of endeavor.”

Major Jeffrey U. Crispo, FMASH executive officer/chief medical service, noted that serving the underprivileged community is part of their mandate as army medical professionals.

“Isang malaking karangalan ang makapagbigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayang nangangailangan bukod sa active personnel ng 7ID at kanilang dependents. I encourage everyone to support and participate in this kind of humanitarian activity to reach more communities that are in need of medical and dental services,” Crispo said.

Mary Rose Asto, a resident, extended her gratitude to the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan East and 7ID for initiating the activity in their community.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa nag-medical mission sa aming barangay dahil nagakaroon ng libreng tuli ang aking anak kaya po maraming salamat po,” said Asto.

Another villager, Rosamia Magsakay, said she was able to avail herself of the free dental services during the activity.

“Masaya at nakakatuwa dahil hindi na kami gagastos dahil ang mahal ngayon ng pagpapabunot ng ngipin kaya masaya kami,” she said.
