GAPAN CITY — A suspect in a recent robbery of a chicken trader in Zaragoza town yielded 20 sachets of suspected shabu in an anti-drugs operation conducted by police in Barangay Sto. Niño here at about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.
City police chief Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito identified the suspect as Gener Eztares, 29, a truck driver from Barangay Pulo, San Isidro, Nueva Ecija.
Operatives from the local police’s drugs enforcement unit led by Lt. Francisco Capili in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency caught the suspect while selling one sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer, Desamito said in her report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Jess Mendez.
Upon arrest, police recovered 19 more sachets of shabu with an estimated total volume of 1.50 grams worth P10,200, she said.
Investigators also recovered the P1,000 buy-bust money.
During the investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed participation in a robbery that victimized a certain Jomarie Sese in Barangay Carmen, Zaragoza on Feb. 6, police said.
Investigation showed Sese was robbed of some P300,000 by two unidentified persons armed with .38 revolver while parked on a road shoulder in the said village.
The suspect has been subjected to inquest proceedings at the city prosecutor’s office for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law.
