CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Safer travel, shorter trips, and smoother transport of farm produce are now a reality for farmers and residents of Rizal, Nueva Ecija, following the completion of a key road rehabilitation project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The newly improved 1.045-kilometer road, which previously had longitudinal cracks and surface damage, now provides a more reliable route connecting Barangays Aglipay, Agbannawag, and Cabucbucan to the Junction Pinagpanaan–Rizal–Pantabangan Road.

This improvement has significantly enhanced access to nearby towns and essential services.

The Department of Public Works and Highways completes a P14.6 million, 1.045-kilometer road rehabilitation project in Rizal, Nueva Ecija, providing a more reliable route that connects Barangays Aglipay, Agbannawag, and Cabucbucan to the Junction Pinagpanaan–Rizal–Pantabangan Road. (DPWH)

Funded with P14.6 million under the 2025 national budget, the project involved the removal of the existing two-lane concrete pavement and its replacement with a five-meter-wide, 0.2-meter-thick portland cement concrete pavement.

It also included an aggregate subbase course and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure road durability and safety.

“Farmers and residents now benefit from smoother movement of goods and improved access to nearby towns. This road rehabilitation not only ensures safer travel, shorter travel time, and reduced vehicle maintenance costs, but also accelerates the delivery of agricultural produce, boosting local incomes,” DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineer Jun Vana said.

Now fully operational, the road is expected to enhance the flow of goods and services, strengthen economic activity, and provide long-term support to the livelihood of farmers in Rizal and nearby municipalities.

The project supports the Marcos administration’s Build Better More program, which prioritizes infrastructure that uplifts the quality of life in communities and strengthens the agricultural value chain to achieve food security and rural development. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
