PO2 Ace Macalalad, Abucay police investigator, identifi ed those wounded as Mario Baggay, 23, Joana Marie Baggay, 26; relative Percival Fernandez, 42, niece Anica Kim de Silva, 12 and nephew Leonard Fernandez, 14; all from Tugatog Street in Olongapo City.
Based on initial investigation, police said the Innova van where the victims were riding hit an incoming ice delivery truck when the car evaded from crashing into another vehicle it was tailing that suddenly turned right.
Ang 14 years old na batang lalaki (Fernandez) unconscious pa at ang 12 years old na babae (de Silva) ay sumusuka ng dugo,” the investigator said.
Innova van driver Christian Bellado, 28, said he was requested by the family to drive the car that they only borrowed from a neighbor in Olongapo City. He said that from Olongapo City, they were bound to Balanga City to visit a detainee at the Bataan District Jail.
The right portion of the car was in total wreck while the front portion of the ice delivery truck was partially damaged.
