CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Prior to the start of the election period on January 13, a total of 16 chiefs of police in Central Luzon were given new assignments by the Police Regional Office 3.

Nueva Ecija has the most reshuffled with nine followed by Zambales with four, Bulacan-two and Bataan-one.

“The revamp does not automatically mean that the chiefs of police are underperforming in their duties. Instead, they have already stayed in their position for the maximum allowable period of two years,” PNP3 regional director Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel clarified.

“We are adhering to the directives of higher headquarters and this movement was deliberated and approved by our Regional Oversight Committee while at the same time it is the nature of police work, especially police officials to be as signed to different fields to further test their capabilities,” Coronel explained.

“I also gave directives to all our provincial/city police offices to go tooth and nail in our aggressive operations against criminals and gun-for-hire syndicates as well as stern implementation of the gun ban to ensure the peaceful holding of credible and fair elections this May,” the police official added.
