SAMAL, Bataan — A motorcycle rider tried to evade a police checkpoint here at dawn of Saturday causing his motorcycle to slide and him falling on the road and upon inspection yielded in his possession some 50 grams of shabu with estimated value of P340,000.
Patrolman Niel Vincent Pangisban of the Samal municipal police station identified the suspect as a 46-year-old male from Barangay Sto. Nino in Dinalupihan, Bataan who was rushed to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Pangisban said a team from the Samal police station was conducting an anti-criminality checkpoint at 3 in the morning in Barangay San Roque when a motorcycle-riding man sped up to avoid the police inspection.
“Tumakas sa checkpoint at pagtakbo niya nawalan ng balance at sumemplang ang motorsiklo matapos mag-slide sa tabi ng kalsada. Nang hingan ng tropa ng driver’s license, lumitaw ang shabu sa bag nito,” the policeman reported.
He said the rider was arrested and brought to a hospital for treatment. Seized from the rider’s belt bag was one large sachet of shabu weighing some 50 grams.
Pangisban said Major Jimmy Albert Decin, Samal police chief, directed the filing of a case for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act against the suspect.
