Retired treasurer bumped dead by DepEd van

    HERMOSA, Bataan- A 71-year old retired municipal treasurer died after she was allegedly sideswiped by an incoming vehicle while walking for home along the shoulder of the national road in Hermosa, here Monday night.

    SPO1 John Canare, Hermosa police investigator, said an attending physician declared Loreta Yandoc Sibug, widow and retired municipal treasurer of Hermosa, dead on arrival at the Orani District Hospital in Orani, Bataan.

    She was unconscious due to head and body injuries when brought to the hospital.

    “Nakarinig kami ng kumalabog at nakita namin ang babae na nakabulagta,” said Hencita Licu, an employee of an LPG outlet where on its frontage victim fell.

    Canare said the vehicle was travelling towards Balanga City when it sideswiped the old woman walking from the opposite direction who was bound for home in barangay San Pedro in Hermosa.

    The victim was thrown about 10 meters away from the point of impact, the police investigator said.

    The vehicle owned by the provincial government is being used as service of officials and employees of the Department of Education in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

    Police brought for inquest DepEd driver Raul Silva, 58, of Abucay, Bataan at the provincial prosecutor’s office in Balanga City for a case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, said Hermosa deputy police chief Sr. Insp. Joey Sampaga.
