Bakit daw siya umalis sa ABS-CBN? “I have a two-year contract with them. Isa lang ang nagawa ko roon, ‘yung ‘Little Champ’, na inabot nang napakatagal bago naere. Nang matapos ang contract ko, dumating naman itong magandang trabaho dito sa GMA, di tinanggap ko. I’m now managed by Tita Malou Choa Fagar.”
How come he didn’t join showbiz earlier when he was still a teenager? “Kasi, pinapangako ako ng daddy ko (the late Rudy Fernandez) na magtapos muna ako ng college bago ako pumasok sa showbiz. Nagawa ko naman. I majored in philosophy sa UP. Pero ‘yun nga lang, what’s sad is that hindi niya ako nakitang makagraduate at hindi na rin niya ako nakitang mag-artista.”
What’s his role in “Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko?” “Magkapatid kami ni Aljur. Si Emilio Garcia ang father namin, pero magkaiba kami ng mother. Siya si Maritoni Fernandez, ako si Carmi Martin. Magagaling silang lahat.
Ako ang magiging third wheel sa love story nina Aljur at Kris Bernal.”
How’s he now after his breakup with Maxene Magalona? “Okay na. Wala na akong sakit na nararamdaman.”
Maxene has a new boyfriend. How about him? “Wala pa. Naghahanap pa ako ng bagong mamahalin.”
How does he feel about Maxene quickly fi nding a replacement for him? “Okay lang. Good luck sa kanila.”
It’s said they didn’t have a good break up as they unfollowed each other’s Instagram account. “Siyempre, ganun talaga, pag ex mo na. Pero sa’kin, okay na ngayong ibalik uli. Hindi pa kami uli nagkakausap since we broke up, pero okay lang sa’kin na magkita kami uli. I still consider her as a friend.”
They’re now both with GMA. Would he be amenable to be paired with her? “Okay lang sa’kin to work with her.
Trabaho naman ‘yun, e.” He appeared with his Kuya Mark in an episode of “Magpakailanman”. How was it? “I enjoyed working with him. It’s a great honor and a privilege. Sana sa susunod, sa teleserye naman kami magkasama.
He wished me well. Sana raw, dumami pa ang trabaho ko rito sa GMA.” Is there pressure being compared to his more famous parents? “Siyempre, hindi maalis ‘yun. May pressure talaga.
Realidad ‘yun, e. Pero dapat, alisin mo ‘yung pressure sa isip mo so you can make it on your own. Isa sa wishes ko is makatrabaho ang mom ko (Lorna T) sa isang teleserye.”
