‎TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Tarlac Chapter, in coordination with the provincial government, launched the Network on Anticipation, Risk, Resilience, and Adaptation (NARRA) – Roots for Resilience Project at the Bulwagan ng mga Gobernador in Tarlac Provincial Capitol.

Funded by the European Union, this initiative aims to promote disaster resiliency programs that strengthen the preparedness and stability of provinces across the Philippines in the face of natural calamities.

Tarlac Governor Christian Tell Yap led the launch event, joined by Vice Governor Estelita Aquino.

Also present were PRC Secretary-General Gwendolyn Pang, German Red Cross Office Head Meenakshinatan Ramaingompillai, Spanish Red Cross delegate Maria Pressaco, along with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of the PRC Tarlac Chapter.

The project has identified priority municipalities, including Anao, Camiling, Ramos, and San Manuel, due to their vulnerability to natural disasters such as flooding.

These areas will receive support from the European Red Cross.

Yap expressed gratitude to the PRC for selecting Tarlac as the second pilot province after Eastern Samar and for granting it early access to the project.

“We are very grateful, Red Cross, for selecting the province of Tarlac to be one of your pilot provinces innovating this new NARRA program,” he said.

Moreover, Yap emphasized the province’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and its aspiration to gain recognition in the Gawad Kalasag Awards.

“The NARRA Project will be a huge help in achieving our goal of developing more strategies and proper planning for long-term solutions,” he added.

Local officials from the priority municipalities, along with their disaster risk reduction officers, barangay leaders, and representatives of civil society organizations, also attended the event to show their support. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
