CLARK FREEPORT – High tide and monsoon rains last Sunday combined to again inundate 208 barangays in Central Luzon, including those where waters had already ebbed the previous day.

In a report yesterday, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) also said that the body of a still unidentified girl, aged 13 or 14, was recovered last Sunday by the Olongapo Fire and Rescue Team along the Vista Marina lighthouse. No other details were available.

The RDRRMC reported that as of yesterday morning, 121 barangays were again flooded in Pampanga, 72 in Bulacan, four in Nueva Ecija, and 11 in Bataan. Last Saturday, the RDRRMC had reported that only 47 barangays remained flooded in Pampanga, but this number rose during heavy rains as well as high tide later last Saturday and Sunday.

Its report also said a total of 2,059 families or 5,553 persons were affected in 75 barangays in Central Luzon. It also said a total of 19 houses in Sta. Cruz and Botolan, Zambales were either partially or totally destroyed by strong currents.

The RDRRMC said the entire province of Bataan has remained under a state of calamity.

Also still under such state are the towns of Calumpit and Marilao in Bulacan, and Masantol and Macabebe in Pampanga.

The council also said the government still maintained 42 evacuation centers in Central Luzon to accommodate 218 families or 1,008 persons.
