CEBU CITY – The 5-star Radisson Blu Cebu hotel has emerged as the top destination for MICE (meetings, incentive travels, conventions and events) in this southern island as gleaned from its recent hosting of the Third Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (SOM 3-APEC).

Radisson Blu is strategically located just minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), business hubs, seaport, commercial centers and cultural sites making it an ideal site for the SOM 3-APEC.

On the morning of September 5, SOM Chair Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Laura Q. Del Rosario officially welcomed delegates and senior officials to the SOM 3-APEC.

The two-day meeting tackled various challenges and problems, including “how to move the growth of services forward.”

In her welcome remarks, Del Rosario cited parallelism in history “with APEC’s current directive to find new routes toward sustainable growth to Ferdinand Magellan’s trailblazing ambition which led him to Cebu almost 500 years ago.”

The Radisson Blu was also the official residence of the four-day familiarization tour of the Pampanga media from September 17-20 as part of the introduction to the 155-room Park Inn Hotel by Radisson slated to open in December at the SM City Clark compound at the Clark Freeport Zone.

Ann Olalo, Radisson’s director for sales and marketing, and Princess Anderle, director of marketing and communications, were on hand to welcome the mediamen.

Cebu is the Queen City of the South, a dynamic business hub and a famed cultural and leisure destination where the Radisson Blu is a key landmark in the 5-star international hotel category.

Olalo said Radisson Blu has edge over the competition because of its MICE facilities as well as its location in the business hub and commercial district, right beside SM City Cebu.

Olalo said this is complemented by the contemporary, functional and elegantly-appointed 400 guestrooms including the business class rooms and suites.

Anderle said each room is designed and equipped for the convenience of guests who want to make the most of their stay. Amenities, minibar, coffee and tea making facility, iPod dock and complimentary high speed wired and wireless Internet access are available in all rooms.

Feria, the award-winning all-day dining restaurant caters to local and international palates. Interaction between diners and chefs highlight every meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. Culinary delights are fresh and aplenty, whether from the buffet or the a la carte menu.

Ideal for MICE, the meetings and event facilities cater to requirements for business and social gatherings with a group of seasoned events and culinary team.

Among the facilities include the pillarless Santa Maria Grand Ballroom which can comfortably seat a thousand guests while Niña Ballroom and the other 10 function rooms is the ideal choice for meetings, conventions, banquets and weddings, according to Anderle.

The Event Plaza is ideal for a lush change of scenery for outdoor events and parties. The plaza features a beautiful garden adjacent to the hotel’s swimming pool.

Earlier, Park Inn’s GM Zenaida Alcantara, director of sales Precious Anne Tablante and Michelle Cortez hosted the media delegates to lunch at the Amare Restaurant in Clark.
